The cabinet adopted a plan involving a Federal subsidy of £403,000 for encouraging mining within tho Commonwealth. Tlio money is to lie used for extending prospecting and making advances to struggling enterprises with reasonable prospects of success, the provision of batteries and other treatment plants where those facilities are not now available, and the strengthening of geological and other technical staffs. It is anticipated that 5500 additional men will be absorbed in the industry.
