TARANAKI SHIELD MATCHES PLAY IN SOUTHERN DIVISION The Southern Division of the Taranaki Shield bowling competition was advanced a further stage on Saturday, when matches were played at Hawera and Kaponga. Park defeated Hawera by QS points to 83 and qualified to participate in the play-off at Hawoii. next Saturday to finalise the Saturday section. Kaponga defeated l\itea by I'll points to 83. CHALLENGING RINK DEFEATED
The Holders of the Hawera 15 buttons (Velvin, Smart, Colclough and Spratt) retained them by 19 points to 16 against the challengers (C. Lovell, F.
