SCOUTS AND GIRL GUIDES ARRANGEMENTS FOR BIRTHDAY (From Our Own Correspondent.) A meeting of the combined Otakeho Girl Guides and Boy Scout Committees was held at Otakeho on Wednesday last when arrangements were made for the combined birthday celebrations to be held on November 3. Mrs Nichols presided and there was a good attendance of representatives of both bodies. ""general AND PERSONAL The second of the Oeo euchre series was held in the Otakeho hall on Wednesday evening when there was a good attendance. Prizes wer won by Miss Glengarry and Mrs Dee and Mr T. Woodward and S. Symes. A meeting of the recently formed committee of the cricket club was held last evening when Mr Holmes presided.
The president and secretary were authorised to procure the necessary equipment and the first practice match will be held on November 1. A very large trout, weighing was secured in the Pihama river by a local fisherman (Mr E. Edwards) yesterday.
Mrs Edwards, who is an inmate of the Hawera Hospital at present, is reported to be progressing favourably. Miss E. Masters, who has been spending a holiday in Opunake, has returned to Oeo and is the guest of Mrs Simpson at present. A number of Oeo residents attended the opening of the Otakeho Tennis Club and it is expected that there will be some players there this season from this end of the district.
