WEDDINGS

A Golden .Anniversary

A pleasant function took place at the residence of Mr and Mrs W. H. Corkill, Taikatu Road, Otakeho, on Wednesday, when Mr and Mrs T. Corkill, Hawera, celebrated their golden wedding. Their sons and daughters— Mr W. H. Corkill (Otakeho), Mrs A. N. Mills' (Stratford), Mr L. G. Corkill (Pihama), Mrs - A. Petty (Pihama), Mr R. C. Corkill (Ararata), Mrs A. D. Gray (Okato), Mrs Charles Thurston (Kaponga), Mr L. J. Corkill (Ha-wera)—-were able to be present with their families, as well as Mr Corkill’s brother, Mr A. Corkill, and his wife and daughter (Inglewood) and' sister, Mrs W. Gray (Okato). The "bride and bridegroom” on their arrival were showered with confetti by their grandchildren and presented with a bouquet and buttonhole beautifully made by Mrs L. Mackie (Otakeho). Full justice was done to an excellent wedding breakfast and' the w r edding cake, made by Mrs Petty and appropriately iced by Mrs Lambie (Opunake), was cut by the "bride.” Toasts were honoured and telegrams from the Hawera Bowling Club and numerous friends, besides many gifts from members of the family, were received. Mr and Mrs Corkill have spent all their wedded life in TaTanaki, following their marriage at Oakura in 1884. They took up farming in the Pihama; district, and are now living in Argyle | Street, Hsrwera.
