Proposal to Promote Race to New Zealand CANTERBURY CLUB’S OFFER PRIZE OP £2OOO (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. The Canterbury Aero Club has decided to support a proposal to try and promote an air race from Melbourne to Christchurch. A cablegram has been sent to the Mayor of Christchurch, Mr Sullivan, M.P., who is at present in Melbourne, asking him to get into communication with aviation authorities to see whether, in the event of the club raising £2OOO in prize money, sufficient entries would be received to make the race worth while.

Handicap Event Still Open

(British Official Wireless.) Received 2.45 p.m. to-day. RUGBY, Oct. 25. In the Centenary Air Race the result of the handicap event is still open. Cathcart-Jones and Waller (Britain) are entered for both events, their allowance for the handicap event being only 36 minutes compared with 35 hours 22 minutes 12 seconds allowed to Squad-ron-Leader MacGregor and H. C. Walker, who at present are in fifth position. According to a report from Melbourne Cathart Jones and Waller, who completed the 11,350 miles journey from England in under five days, may attempt a speed flight back to England in their de Haviland Comet in order to establish a fresh record for the double journey. England to Timor LISBON Oct. 25. The Portguese airmen, Cruz and Blacky flying from Ettgland to Timor, left Lisbon to-day.
