.MR. A. McDOWALL FAREWELLED

(From Our Own Correspondent.) A large attendance of friends assembled In the Foresters’ Hall. Patea, or. Friday evening to bid farewell to Mr A. McDowall, who lias received a transfer to Te Aroha. An enjoyable time was spent in dancing, Miss J. Carey supplying the music, Mr R. Adams and Mr 0. Price playing extras. After supper ( Mr A. Maxwell, president of the Piftea Surf Club, expressed the members’ regret at Mr McDouall's departure and wished him the best of luck and prosperity in the future. He referred to Mr McDowall as a keen and enthusiastic member and secretary of the club. On behalf of the members, he asked Mr McDowall to accept a golf club as a small token of their esteem.

Mr T. E. Roberts, on behalf of the Patea Tennis Club, expressed the club’s best wishes for Mr McDowall’s future happiness. Mr C. Wills, on behalf of the Patea Football Club, expressed the clubs re. gret at Mr McDowall’s departure, and wished him every success in f Je A rolls). Mr L. Honeyfield, who spoke on behalf of the Patea Golf Club, wished Mr McDowall every success, both on and of the links. Air J. Jones, manager of the Bank of Australasia, and Mr W. T. Lamb, referred to the courtesy and civility Air AlcDowall had extended in the bank.

Air McDowall, in thanking the speakers for their kind remarks and the presentation, said he would not forget the good friends he was leaving behind him in Patea and that he would always remember the "pleasant days ho had spent at the Patea, and various other beaches, on this coast.

P ATEA PLUNK FT SOCIETY The monthly meeting of the Patea Plunkct Society was held on Friday, Airs R. W. Haddow presiding. Alesdames (J. Mellor, I). Roots. T. Roberts, G. Alacken, T. Anderson, L. Austin. T. Nelson, R. Hunger, T. Prescott, Ft Harris, and L. Honeyfield (secretary) were also present. The nurses report for September read as follows:—Babies on books, Patea, 73; older children, 4(5: total 119. Outstations, babies 110; older children 66; total 176. New cases, Patea, 2 babies 1 mother; outstations, 4 babies, 3 mothers. Patea. visits to office, 4 days, outstations 16 days. Visits to homes in Patea. 30; outstations 24. Patea, adults 84, babies 77, older childen 27, total 188; outstations, adults 112, babies 93. older children 36, total 241. Thanks were extended to those who had sent flowers to the rooms and Airs Roberts for silver impel’.

An invitation was received from the Alton sub-branch to be present at a meeting and social on Wednesday afternoon next.

It was decided that all members who to the rooms where they would be to the rooms wherethey "would be gratefully received.
