ECHO OF JEWEL ROBBERY

WOAIAN CHARGED WITH RECEIVING

REAIANDED FOR SENTENCE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Oct. 14. A sensational robbery of jewellery from the Karangaliape Road shop of James Pascoe Limited on September 20 was recalled by the prosecution in the Supreme Court of Hilda Jackson, a domestic aged 3*3, who was charged with receiving a quantity of jewellery valued at £1378, knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained.

Detective-Sergeant AlcHugh described breaking into a room at the woman’s boarding-house. When asked where she obtained the jewellery Jackson answered, “That is for you to find out.” When about to be searched she took a gold chain from the toe of her shoe and handed it to the detective. Alore articles of jewellery were found in the linenpress and behind the wall-boards.

Air Justice Herdman said the extreme simplicity of the issue made the jury’s task comparatively easy. The 'jury found Jackson guilty and she was remanded for sentence.
