Mr P. C. Heapliy has resigned the secretaryship of the Greymouth Trotting Club after 19 years’ .sendee.' All- \\ . prin g has been appointed l his successor, .states a Press Association message. Dr .1. Carmalt-Jones has been appointed chairman of the professorial board of the University of Otago following the resignation of Dr R. J. 1. Bell. Air A. -Morton, of Egmont Village, has for the twenty-fourth year in succession been 're-elected president of the National Dairy Association. At the annual meeting of the N.Z. Co op. Rennet 00. yesterday Air J. B. Murdoch, Hawem, was .re-elected chairman of directors. At the annual meeting of the Park (Hawera) Bowling Club held last eivenjnig, Messrs P. Quin, C. Curtisi, S. Pa rices and W. 'Barnett were elected 1 life members in appreciation of their services to. the club since its inception. Mr G. McNamara. Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department, left London on June 23 for New Zealand, via Sydney. Since attending the postal conference at Cairo he has been in London on departmental business. The Federal Government has received the resignation of Air Charles Lloyd Jones, chairman of the Australian Broadcasting Commission, who is retiring for business reasons, states a Sydney cable. Air H. AY. S. Botting, of the staff of the Otago Boys’ High School, has been nominated by the secondary schools of Otago and Southland for the position of manager of the New Zealand secondary schoolboys’ team which will visit Melbourne to take part in cen-l tenary games at the end of the year.
General 'Sir Alexander G-odley, oral officer commanding the New Zealand military forces from 1910 to 1914, is to visit Australia for the Melbourne centenary, and later in; the year will .probably’ visit the Dominion, according to advice .received by the Dominion council of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association.
The death occurred yesterday following an. operation of MrDonald McCollum, representative for many years of the Marlborough ward on the Wellington Education Board, states, a Pre.-s Association message from Blenheim. He was also chairman of the Springla.icls School Committee, the Marlborough Hospital Board and other local bodies For some time he was chairman of toe Marlborough County Council. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Co-op. Rennet Company yesterdav reference was made to the loss sustained by the industry in the resignation from the directorate of Mr. J. R.. Corrigan on account of ill-liealth. The meeting decided to place on record its appreciation of hi.s services and to express the hope that he would soon be restored to health.
