THEFT OF LEAD FROM ROOF

MYSTERIOUS AUCKLAND CASE DISCOVERY BY PLUMBERS (Bv Telegraph—l'ress Association.) AUCKLAND, May 7. One of the most mysterious thefts committed at Auckland, that of between five and six hundredweight of lead flashing from the roof of Campbell House, a large city building, is engaging the attention of the police. The theft was discovered when two plumbers were sent to inspect the roof following a severe leak that resulted in part of the Peter Pan cabaret, on the top floor of the building, being flooded to a depth of about a quarter of an inch. The missing lead is valued at between £2O and £3O. All the lead 1 flashing along the western side of the roof was torn away.
