Far the first day of the Pahiatua races the weather was fine and there was a large attendance. The course was in excellent order. The totalisator handled £4303, an increase of £466 on the corresponding day of last year. The judicial committee held a lengthy inquiry at the instigation of the stipendiary steward' concerning the running of Golossical, a hot favourite in the Hamua Hack Handicap. It was alleged the horse was not tiying to win t]»o race. The Marlborough Racing Club’® autumn meeting opened at the Waterlea course to-day in delightful weather. The course was in splendid order after the recent rains.
