KITCHEN EVENING SOCIAL
GATHERING AT TAWHiITI. The Tawhiti Hall was crowded, on Tuesday evening when a kitchen evening was given m honour |>f Miss Mil riel Reid and Mr J. Peterson, who are shortly to be married. Much credit is due to the hostesses, Misses P. McGlashan and E. Campbell for the excellent arrangements made lor the enjoyment of the guests. A well balanced programme of dances, vocal and elocutionary items and a competition, sustained interest throughout the evening. A dainty supper was served by the hostesses " and their . friends, after which Mr A. L. Campbell, on behalf of Miss McGlashan and Miss Campbell, thanked all the guests for the way they had responded, both with their presence and with their gifts. He then invited Miss Reid and Mr Peterson to open the large tableful of parcels. Mr Peterson thanked those who had given such a wonderful collection of useful articles. The gathering broke up soon after midnight with the singing of “Aukl Lang Syne.” Music for the dancing yvas played by Miss P. McGlashan and 'Mrs A. I j. Campbell. Messrs A. Campbell and H. Thrush. Contralto solos were sung, by Alias J. McGlashan and elocutionary items were rendered by Ali-ss Al. Legett. A “parcel” competition was won by Miss Aluriel Reid. Air Archie Campbell acted a,s Alaster of Cereman ies. Amongst those present were Miss AJuriel Reid (oflral voile).
