MAN’S LEAP FROM BRIDGE

IDENT.TV SO FAR UNKNOWN. UNUSUAL CANTERBURY AFFAIRCHRISTCHURCH, April 11. The police are investigating to-day with a view to establishing the identity of a man seen to jump from the parapet of the W.iimakaiiri bridge on the North Road on Monday evening, but so far inquiries are without result*. About 6.30 p.m. on Monday a man leapt into the water from the bridge. He was assisted out of the water by a fisherman after he had been carried some distance downstream. Then at 9 o’clock the same evening a motorist saw a young man make a similar dive. The identity 7 in both eases is unknowji, but the police believe that the actions were probably those of one man.
