WOMEN’S DIVISION. ANNUAL MEETING HELD. (From Our Own Correspondent) r The annual meeting of the W.D.F.U. was held in the meeting room on, Monday afternoon. Mrs W. L. F, Chambers presided over a good attendance l of members. The annual report stated that the number of members for the year was 76. Eleven meetings l were field : and the average attendance was 27. Mesdameis Chambers, Shepherd and Allan I had attended eleven meetings; Mesdames F. Julian- \Vann ,\Ylikinson, and Miss O’Sullivan had attended 10 meetings. The year had. commenced with a credit balance' of £25 17s 6d, and ended with a credit balance of £3l Is. The birthday party. £ekl in May was . a Huge success despite bad. weather. 'Mrs JLnmbie made and iced the cake. •.. .. _ A 'display of work was sent to ■ the_ South Taranaki Winter Show at Ha--1 wera. A dance organised by the divii sion brought in a profit of £ll 6s 10d. I Mrs Wann donated a quilt for. competition, Mrs W. Markham being the winner. Several demonstrations were arranged. Donations were sent to the Flock House, and to the Red Gross, the latter'' to assist aßussian child. A lecture on chrysanthemums was given by Mrs Mourie. A euchre party and dance had been held in conjunction with the Women’s Institute to raise funds to help furnish the Plunket looms. The division had donated £3 for prizes for euchre social. As a result of the effort £lO was handed to the Plunket Society. Over £lO had ; been spent on relief work and £ls sent to the community chest.;, f.O The election of officers for the-en-suing year resulted as follow: • President, Mrs W. L. F. Chambers., vicepresidents, Mesdames J. Young, F. Julian, W, Wan, T. N. Watt; social [committee, Mesdames W. ‘ Wain, J. Young, A. Allan, A. Laonbie, T. N. Watt, R. Campbell, F. Julian and M. Harvey; secretary, Mrs Shepherd; bush nurse and house-keepers auxiliary committee, Mesdames F. Julian and LamVotes of thanks were accorded the retiring officers in appreciation of their work throughout the year. POPPY DAY APPEAL. The monthly meeting was held before the annual meeting. It was stated that poppies would be available from Mrs T. N. Watt from April 16. All returns are to be, in by : April 23, and a mart or Poppy Day is to be hold on April 21. It was decided to hold a display of work and curios at the birthday tea on May 4.
