CONTROL OF N.Z. CYCLING
’ ♦ END OF CONTROVERSY. PLANS OF FEDERATION. (By Teii'zranh' Tresw Association.* WELLINGTON), March 9. ; The control'of cycling, both calsh and ’ amatetur, in New Zealand, which was the subject of a good dea’l of controversy recently, has now been placed on a firm basis. Mr H. D. Bennett, chairman of the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association', stated to-day that the New Zealand Cycling Federation is to be the supreme controlling body in the Dominion over both cash and atnateur sections. The federation now consists of the following: Cash section, Messrs W. J. Walters, E. Coffey and P. C. Lucas; amateur section, Messrs J. Sturrock, G. R. Giles and' G. Hancox. The independent chairman is Mr John Kennedy, Geraldine. The ordinary administrative side of the control will be left in the case of ; amateurs to the New Zealand Cycling , Association, and' in the case of the cash section to the New Zealand Athletic, Cycling and Axemen’s Union. There j will be six provincial centres for amateurs —Auckland, West Coast (North Island), Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay, Wei- , -lington, Canterbury and Otago. The federation is to be the final court of appeal, to which access is provided. In the case of the West Coast and Haw-ke’s Bay athletic centres, these have been acting as cycling centre's. This system is to be continued till the cyclists in those districts desire to and are able to form a separate centre.
