COMMITTEE! FAREWELL SOCIAL AND PRESENTATION. A farewell social and presentation to Miss N. Smaile by members of the Turutura Tennis Club took place ai the home of Mr. and Mrs J. Lipping well, Waihi Road, Hawera, last Friday evening. The time passed ver.. pleasantly with dancing, games anc competitions, and during the evening Mr A. Reid, president of the club, requested Miss Smaile’s acceptance o, a small token of esteem from the mem beis and expressed the hope that sh< sometimes would be able to visit the courts, where she would always be sui\ of a, welcome. Miss Smaile thanked the member; for their kindness and said that she much appreciated the gift. Mr. Reid thanked Mr and Mrs Lippingwell for the use of their homo for the occasion. Proceedings terminated with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne. OPENING OF SEASON. Arrangements have been made by the committee of the Turuturn Tennis Club to open its 1033-34 season next Wednesday afternoon. At a meeting of the committee in Hawera last Tuesday evening the resignation of Miss N. Smaile from the committee owing to her departure from the district was accepted with regret',
