Revolt again Hared up in Cuba, resulting in the capture to-day by loyalists of the central police station, which is the headquarters of the rebellion against the San Grau. Martin Government. A fierce battle raged all day, with attac ks centring round the presidential palace. President San Martin proclaimed a state of war throughout Cuba on Wednesday night to cope with the day-long rebellion, in which at least 50 were killed and 125 wounded at Havana, with reported anti-Govern-ment movements in several parts of the island. The President also ordered the. court-martial of any newspaper director who publishes news of an alarming nature. Twice the forces of Colonel Fulgencio Baptista, army chief of staff, •repelled dissentients,, ’including soldiers and members of the A. 8.0. secret society, who seek the return of the former President de Cespedes, but sharp firing continued to make the streets of Havana a scone of terror and bloodshed.

Over 20D rebels were arrested, among the latter being scores of the A.B.C. members (young revolutionists). 'The revolt commenced before dawn with machine-gun fire and bombardment from aeroplanes of the palace, it was answered with a fusillade from rifles and machine-guns mounted on the palace. The roof was manned by federal soldiers. Troops guarded all the highways and stopped and searched automobiles and gaoled those carrying guns. It was said that the movement was intended to reinstate Senor Cespedes and was headed by the former aviation captain Guillermo Martull.
