BED SHADOW WINS TWICE. (By Tekgtapb—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 7. The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s spring meeting opened today. The weather was brilliantly fine. The 'track was heavy early but improved rapidly. The attendance was good. The totalisator investments were £43,753 10s, compared with £41,891 10s on the first day last year. NEW ZEALAND CUP. Prom the start Sir Guy led from Mountain Dell, Kingcraft, Royal Silk and Free Advice, but with half a mile covered Mountain Dell had charge, followed by Royal Silk, Sir Guy, Kingcraft, Free Advice, Bed Shadow, Wrackler, Glenrossie, Lindbergh, Roi L’Or and Harold L'ogan, with Satin King tailed off. Royal Silk went to the front entering the back, while the remainder maintained their positions over the next half. Passing the stands the last time Red Shadow was in second place behind Royal Silk, with Mountain Dell, Kingcraft, Free Advice, Glenrossie, Sir Guy, Wrackler, Roi L’Or, Lindbergh and Harold Logan next. The leaders were the same along the back the last time and into the straight, but Red Shadow did best in the run home to beat Royal Silk by a length and a-'half, with Mountain Dell two lengths away. Huon Voyage went to the front along the back and led into the straight from Todd Lonzia, Biddy Parrish and Louis Bingen.
