HAWERA WOMEN’S CLUB

PLAY READING CIRCLE. At the Hawera Women’s Club last evening a very successful reading was given under the auspices of the play reading circle of the clever comedy “Lilies of the Field,” by John Hastings Turner. The cast was 'veil chosen and the members selected read with a keen appreciation of the points of the writer and the situations presented. _ T . The cast was as follows: Rev. John Head, Miss I. M. Glenn; Ann (his wife), Mrs A. K. North; Catherine and Elizabeth (their twin daughters), Miss M. Black and Miss A. Page; Mrs Rooke Walter (Ann’s mother), Airs H. Woodward; Barnaby Haddon, Miss Reilly; Violet (the maid) and Withers (man servant), Mrs J. E. Campbell ; Bryan Ropes, Miss B. Ryan; Ladv Susan Rocker, Miss McLean; Miss Flame, Mrs Syme. The stage directions were in the hands of Miss Caplen.
