EGMONT A. & P. JUBILEE SHOW
Message from the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, Prime Minister
I am very pleased to write a short message for the special supplement to be issued by the “Hawera •Star” m connection wi t h th e Egmont A. & P. Jubilee Show.
There can be no doubt that agricultural and pastoral shows have a very definite value to the community and have played no small part in the development of the~ "Dominion’s primary industry. , They have been instrumental- m promoting a better understanding between farming and manufac-
turing industries or, m other words, between town and country. They have also been the means of disseminating information among farm ers themselves regarding the latest and most scientific methods of production, resulting m improvement in the quality of their stock and of their pioduce.
The pastoral and grazing capabilities of the South Taranaki district have established for it a well-earned reputation and the high standard of its dairy produce is widely known, not only in New Zealand, but overseas. I feel sure that no effort will be spared by the organisers of the Jubilee Show to make it an outstanding success and a credit to the district.
May I also take this opportunity of appealing to your readers* when making their purchases, to give a first preference to New Zealand-made goods and next a preference to goods produced in other British countries. By this means they will be assisting both our local industries and Empire industries generally, as well as helping in the task of expanding trade and industry and of increasing emploj - ment. Thus also will they be helping to bring about the return of happier and more prosperous times. I extend my good wishes to the Egmont A. and P. Association for the success of its Jubilee Show. GEO. W. FORBES, Prime Minister.
