SCOTTISH ASSOCIATION

The Te Kiri Scottish Association held another successful Hallowe’en dance on Tuesday evening in the local hall, The capacity of which was fully taxed as usual. The Auroa. Pipe Band contributed two selections. A special feature of the evening was the piping in of the “haggis” by Piper Alex Jamison. Mr D. Holmes (Chieftain) recited the “Ode to the Haggis,” after which it was handed round the assembly.
Music for the dance was supplied by Jack Hooker’s orchestra and Miss K. Julian, of Warea, and Miss M. Lilly, Auroa, played extras. The children were' specially catered for with free icecreams, paper hats, games, etc. The supper was served by members of the Scottish Association and a. number of lady' friends, who had a strenuous time catering for the large assembly. Messrs W. Crawford and W. Coxhead carried out the duties of M.C. TENNIS SEASON Visitors from. Otakelio, Awatuna, Pihama, and Mangahume Clubs were present at the season’s opening cereluony of tli6 Te Kiri Tennis Club. Hie president welcomed the visitors and declared the court open, after which a Yankee tournament was played, the arrangements being in charge of Miss V. Houlbrook (secretary), assisted by Messrs K. Henderson, 11. H. Gatenby, and W. Coxhead. . The final game resulted in a win for Miss Vera Beere (Te Kiri) and Mr Roy Putt (Otakeho) from Miss Edna tCoxhead (Te Kiri) and Mi: S. Couaglen .(Pihaina). PERSONAL.
Mrs B. S. Coupe is spending a holiday in New Plymouth, recuperating after her recent severe illness. Miss A. Coxhead has returned from Mata. . Miss Kathleen Julian is the guest of Mrs S.' W. Beere: Mr R. Pitcaithly, of Eltham, spent last week-end as the guest of Mr and Mrs T. J. Coxhead.
