INDICATIONS IN BRITAIN BIG OUTLAY ON RAILWAYS. ROLLING STOCK AND LINES. MANY INDUSTRIES AFFECTED. (British Official Wireless.) Received 11.45 a.m. to-day. RUGBY, Nov. 4. A further indication of confidence in and the revival of British trade of which there has been indisputable evidence in recent months, is announced b v the Great Western Railway £2,600,600 programme of development for 1934. This follows last week's announcement by tbe London-North Eastern Railway of a £2,300,000 programme. The Great Western Railways’ plan includes the construction of 90 engines, 200 passenger vehicles, 850 vacuumfilled vans for express freight sendees and over 1000 other twelve-ton vans. In addition to this construction work 400 miles of line will be laid, involving 30,000 tons of rails, more than 600,000 sleepers and 185,000 cubic yards of ballast. These schemes involve largo orders and more employment in many branches of British industry.
