EXCITED POULTRY EXPERTS

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —In a recent issue of the “Ha.wera Stax” I noticed that at Vancouver “to equal the world’s record” a White Leghorn lien laid 357 eggs in 365 days to the evident delight of 50 experts, who cheered as at a football match. No doubt they drank the hen’s health us well. This merry crowd must have been misinformed as to what constitutes a world’s record, as Mrs P. W. SVaddell’s Black Orpington (“The Prin•ess To Ka.wau” of Taranaki) at the Normanby egg-laying competition laid 164 eggs in 364 days, and that without vny applause from the Normanby citizens. Probably New Zealanders will forgive the princess if, on the occasion >f making the world’s record, she cackled a bit more than usual, but so far I have not even heard that she lid.—l am, etc..
