HAWERA TRACK NOTES. (By “Limited”).. Weather conditions on Satu day morning were good for training operations at the Hawera racecourse. Jhe plough track was used for fast worn and "was in good order. Throe maidens in Sandlark (leasey), Fly in a Bast (Duncan) and Benedictine Al pine) were sprinted three furlongs. Flyin<>- East, who is the. more seasoned of”the trio, finished just ahead of Sandlark with Benedictine 5 , a couple oi lengths back. . . . _ „ Green Linnet, ridden by M. Conway, o-ave another impressive display over a ( round of the schooling hurdles. Green Linnet is nominated for the hurdle races at the Waikato meeting. Rich held, who is being, kept up to the collar, is looking in fine order. He snrintod half a mile with 11. Mills up, a* tidy weight, in 50 3-ssec. Mills, who looks after Richfield, understands the old horse and allows him to get balanced in his gallops, with the result that he finishes well. March Alone (Shield), Gibraltar (Feasev) and Chief Lino (Duncan) worked together over seven furlongs in 1.40. v .. .... Round Table (Coyle) sprinted a couple of furlongs smartly in 2osec.
Round Table continues to make steady improvement. Oriel gaiioped three furlongs in 391sec, and it is hoped that the trip to tlie Waikato will .have a settling eifect on tile big gelding, a® he is a poor feeder.
Argument (Glenn) dashed over two furlongs in 26 3-ssec in good style and could have registered a good three lurlongs. Haunui is apparently all right again and did easy exercise work on the inside. J. Fryer lightly blistered the gelding’s knees, the seat of the trouble, with good effect. The Tiger its still being kept at light work and is thriving on it. The Christmas meetings should .see him in fine shape. Arouse worked .solidly over a round of tilt' plough and i.s making good headway. On trainer Brown’s return from Auckland, Arouse will he apportioned more serious worn. Calamine continues to do strong pace exercise and should soon be able to perform more strenuous tasks. No Doubt, Miss Louvain, Don Erma and the two-year-old Silver Wings were • ortioned routine work on the inside. The other two-year-olds did useful work oil their own track. The steeplechaser Copev, who has been running out for some time, ;s _to be given an opportunity to distinguish himself at show jumping this week. Copey is a. (treat jumper, but rather a rusher at his fences and this may prejudice his chances.
