MANAIA

MEETING OF TOWN BOARD. (From Our Own Correspondent.)

The monthly meeting of the Manaia Town Board was held on Thursday, ■when those present were Commissioners L. A. Walters (chairman), H. Mead, A. J. Christie, U. Watts and 1 X. D. Jones, An apology for absence was received from Comr. L. C. Harrison.

Mr J. Paterson, junr., secretary of the Waimate Football Club, waited on the board with reference to gate takings at local club football matches held at the Manaia Domain, —It was resolved that this matter he left over until next meeting. It was resolved that the ticket box at the Domain be painted red, also blockhouse and posts; also that concrete conveniences according to plan submitted be erected. A letter was received from the Manaia W.D.F.U. stating that it would not require the use of the

ladies’ rest room owing- to insufficient space. Mr W. O. Duncau applied for an additional water supply connection to his section.—Tt was resolved that lie be notified that only one water connection from the main is allowed 1 . Application by the Manaia Cricket Club for permission to use the Manaia Domain for cricket and the use of a. room in the grandstand for -storing material was granted. In his report for the month the treasurer stated that the collection of rates and revenue from various sources amounted to £354 Is Od. Accounts totalling £'lo2l Os 2d were passed for payment. MAORI MISSION CONCERT.

The Methodist- Maori Mission coneert held last evening at the Manaia Town Hall was much appreciated by the audience. Poi dances, hakas, stone age games, choruses, instrumental music and waiatas were given by members of the company in appropriate native costume. A double quartette number was greatly appreciated.
