address to hawer.a branch. The monthly meeting of the Hawera. branch of the' Women’s •Christian Temperance Union was held in the Methodist Bible Class rOom on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Exley (president) was in the chair and there was a good attendance of members. Sister Airini Hobbs (the Maori deaconess for Taranaki) gave an address on the Maori race and the temperance movement. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Sister Hobbs. Afternoon tea was served, Airs "VS . G. Simpson acting as hostess.
