WOMEN’S DIVISION
EAWEEA BRANCH MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Hawera Branch of the W.D.F.U. wa,s hold in the Rewa on Thursday. Those present were Mesdames A. E. Death (president), Seed, Johnstone, Viclcridge, H. Thrush, Cruiekshank, Meyers, H. B. Nicholas, Russell, Rowlands, Evans, Meuli, Tocher, Barlthrop, Smart, E. Iv. Cameron and Kendall, and Miss Blake. Mrs Frahm, a visitor from Ohangai, was welcomed, also Mrs Thompson, a visitor from the Fraser Road branch. Much discussion on the display to bo held at the A. and P. Show took place. It was decided that the show committee bo on duty on Tuesday, November 7, to arrange the display. Mrs B. Smart gave a demonstration on raffia work. There will be a further demonstration on December 4.
An appeal was made to all members to help the catering at the A. and P. Show by gifts of eggs, lettuce, cakes, etc., for the luncheon rooms.
The meeting confirmed the action of the committee on paying the sum of ten shillings to the appeal by the Red Cross Society on behalf of the Russian girl whom, it is hoped, will be enabled to join her parents in New Zealand.
