LONDON, Nov. 3. Lady Hewart, wife of the Lord Chief Justice (Lord Hewart) collapsed and died while attending the Lady Mayoress’ last reception of the season at the Mansion House, London, at which 1000’ guests, brilliantly gowned, were present in uniform and evening dress in the lavishly decorated Egyptian Hall.

Lady Hewart at. midnight was sitting with a group of friends and suddenly fell forward. She was removed and died in the ante-room.

The Lord Mayor ordered the reception to he abandoned and the bewildered guests left. The deepest sympathy is felt for Lord Hewart, who was not present. The nows was telephoned to his home.
