NO EARTHQUAKE DAMAGE
FELT IN SEVERAL CENTRES. VARYING DEGREE OF INTENSITY (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Nov. 3. The secretary of the G.P.O. advises that the following earthquake reports have been received. At. Nelson a prolonged earthquake shock was felt at 5.15 a.m., preceded by a long rumble. No damage is reported. The shock was felt slightly at Murchison, but was more prolonged at Mo■tueka.
The postmaster at Takaka advises that s!t was felt fairly strongly there. A Blenheim report states that a fairly -Strong earthquake, from a northeast to south-west direction, was preceded by a loud rumbling at 5.17 a.m. The duration was six seconds. No damage was reported. At Wanganui a fairly severe earthquake was felt at 5.19 a.m. It started with a slight tremor and increased in intensity, causing doors, pictures and electric lights to swing very pronouncedly in an east to west direction. It then gradually faded away. No damage is reported. The shock lasted 15 to .20 seconds. At Palmerston North a slight, prolonged trembling was experienced at 5.18 a.m.
