COMMISSION’S PROTEST

MORTGAGORS RELIEF ACT MEMBERS VIRTUALLY ON STRIKE NOT SATISFIED WITH COURTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., Nov. 2. As a protest against the way the courts were administering the Mortgagors Relief Act the members of the Wellington Mortgagors’ Relief Commissi on returned to their homes. In other words they are “on strike.” At various times the work of the commission has been commended by the judges, but apparently commissioners have not quite tne same appreciation of the way- the courts are administering the Act. It is rumoured the commissioners think the courts axe not as lenient as they might be and are not viewing the Act as the legislature intended. The chairman of the commission would give no information, for publication, but he declared that the members had not resigned. Nevertheless the commissioners returned to - their homes while there was apparently plenty of work on hand. It is understood they have also cancelled their siftings.
