POLICE GARAGE ENTERED
HUNTLY, Nov. 1. "While the cortege of the late Constable James Shields, who was killed in the level crossing smash at Huntly a week ago to-day, was on its way .to Auckland a despicable theft ■jva-s curried out at the home of the police officers at Huntly. A thief broke into the motor garage and stole a spare tyre and tube from the late constable’s car. The mean theft has caused a good deal of feeling in Huntly and residents regard the crime as sacrilege, the theft having been committed when the last rites of the nopul ar and highly-respect-ed officer were being carried out.
