BRITISH ARMY’S PLANS SEQUEL TO RECENT TESTS. 1 ’PLANE’S SPECIAL ADVANTAGES (United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph Copyright.) Received 2.3 Q p.m. to-day. LONDON, Nov. I. The “Daily Telegraph’s” militarv correspondent believes the army is about to take two important steps—.. the revival of a tank brigade and the adoption of the autogiro. Successful tests of the aiutogiro as a flying staff car dn recent manoeuvres led to- the decision to adopt it as a regular part of army equipment. It is probable that autogiros will be attached to army co-operation squadrons. During manoeuvres they hovered close to the ground, where they were difficult to detect by a. - '“hostile” aeroplane flving above. The autogiro is suitable both for. naval and army work, as it can take •off from a warship, needing neither landing deck nor catapult apparatus.. Though not a true helicopter, for which a prize of £50,000 was offered, in 1924 and is .still unclaimed, autogiros possess the essential qualities thereof
