(SEASON OPENING. | (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Awatuna Tennis Club’s season opening ceremony drew a large attendance, including visitors from Auroa, Piliama, Te Kiri and Mangahume. Mr. Douglas Lind (president) welcomed the visitors and declared the courts open, and a yankee tournament was held. In the final Mr. Hoy Corbett and Miss Tippens beat Mr. Kedgley and Mrs. Farquhar junr. At the annual meeting of the club Mr. D. Lind presided over a good attendance and gave an account of the year’s activities. The .election off officers resulted: President, Mr. D. Lind; secretary, Miss Farquhar; committee, Messrs Kedgeley, R. Corbett, W. Dormer, D. Lind, J. Wade, Mrs. G)ranvi.l'le, Mrs. Nitccolls and Mrs. Farquhar junr.; club captain, Mr. R. Corbett. PERSONAL. Miss Basin and Miss Lawson, of Wanganui, spent Labour week-end as jthe guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Lind and did a good deal of motoring I around the mountain.
