MOTOR' CYCLISTS’ THRILLS

LONDON, Oct. 19. Speedway ice-racing is the latest thrill provided by human mechanical ingenuity. Steel-shod, helmeted riders use motor cycles fitted with special skates instead of front wheels. Steel runners under- the engine and a studded back tyre enable a rider to .‘(broadside” at bends, throwing up showers of snow and fee. An average speed of more than 40 miles an hour was attained in experimental runs, in which there were numerous spills.
