WANGANUI, Oct. 18,
With the semi-finals of the Do-1 minion, women’s golf championship. concluded early to-day there did not| appear' to be much reason to expect that any fireworks would he turned on during- the remainder of the day’s play, -the only engagement for contestants being the second bogey handicap arid the second round of the Rattray Grip, a trophy which goes to the competitor returning the best aggregate in the two bogey matches. •Something worth while, however, was provided spectators who chanced to follow Miss O. Kay and her partner, Miss Barns-Graham (Gisborne), for the latter turned on splendid golf! to return a card of 74, two strokes under bogey, and also two under the new record for the course established as reeentlv as last Friday by Mrs Cook (CastleclifE). _ On ’returning to the club house Miss Barns-Graham was accorded a hearty, ovation by competitors and spectators. Her card read: Out, 5 4 4 5 4 4 3 4; total 37; in, 3 5 3 5 553445; total 37. An ovation was also accorded Miss N. Grace, one of the most promising of the younger players at Belmont. who went round in the exceptionally good figures of 78. Miss Barns-Graham won the Rattray Cup, being 3 up on bogey on the aggregate. Mrs J. M. Wilson (Auckland) was runner-up, being all sciuare. Next on the list were Miss Rathbone (Auckland) and Miss Holmes (Christchurch); both 1 down. On the day’s play in the bogey handicap Miss Grace and Miss BarnsGraham finished level 4 up, Miss Grace winning on the count back. Tn the second division Miss E. Fleetwood was all square and won the trophy.

SEASON’S OFFICIAL CLOSING
TROPHIES PRESENTED
The ceremony marking the official closing of the season of the Te Ngutu Golf Club took place yesterday and tiophies won were presented to the successful competitors by Mrs J. E. Meuli. A mixed foursome over 14 holes was won bv Miss J. Joyce and G. Hollis, 70—14—56 net. Just prior to the presentation ceremony, Air Meuli, the president, expressed the pleasure felt by the' committee that the season had been so successful. Ho said that- a great deal of the success was due to the fine spirit of goodwill existing among the members and their keen desire to see the club progress. This, be said, was verv desirable and everyone had done something to achieve the desired end. He thanked the Harris family for the great- kindness and consideration and said that the success of the club was largely due to them. At bis call, cheers were' given for them. Mr Meuli also thanked the donors of trophies for their generosity and said the list was one of which the club could well be proud. He then called on Airs Aleuli to present the trophies, the complete list of which was as follows:

ELTHAAI LADIES’ CLUB CLOSING DAY PLAY About 80 players attended the Eltham Ladies’ Golf Club closing day on Tuesday, including forty visitors. Airs N. G. Luxton and Mrs Preece, Te Ngutu, won a Canadian foursome, with Mrs Ai. Ohry.stal, and Mrs J. D. McKay 7 runners-up. Excellent exhibition-si of long driving were given hv Alias. At. Sangster, of Stratford, who won the competition. Aliss E. Wa-nklyn (Eoxton) won the putting competition. The captain (Mrs H. Wills) presented the trophies won and on behalf of the visitors. All's Frydav (Stratford) thanked the Hub For an enjoyable day’s golf.
