EGMONT JUBILEE SHOW
CATERING ARRANGEMENTS. UNDERTAKEN”BY WOMEN’ S COMMITTEE. Yesterday afternoon, in the A. and TV meeting- room at Hawera, Miss Corrigan presided over a representative gathering of ladies to discuss the catering at the forthcoming Egmont Jubilee” Show. Miss Corrigan emphasised that there were two essential factors necessary for the success of the show—fine -weather and public support. “The first we cannot influence,” .said the chairwoman,” but the second we can a great deal. Public support has to be asked for and canvassed for.” Those present were asked not to weary in placing the needs of the A and P. catering committee before their friends. The show was unfinancial and relied on the generosity of the public. Those present agreed to collect as much as possible of cakes, eggs, let tuce, potatoes and other goods for catering for the crowds that are expected on the three days. Stall-holders wore arranged for the various stalls on the grounds—Mrs. Adams in charge of the main booth; Mrs. A Hunter and Mrs. J. Laurenson the tea tents; Miss Laurenson the ice tveam stall, and Mrs. Stevens the sweet and fruit stall. A resolution was passed asking that no outsider be permitted to sell fruit on the grounds. Mrs. Adams impressed on the meeting tlie need for having all donations of”meat, potatoes and lettuce on the j grounds not later than Tuesday the 17th, and the importance of the committee knowing when to expect various donations, in order to make satisfactory arrangements.
