GAOL FOR FIVE YEARS
FATHER’S SERIOUS CRIME. CENSURE BY CITY JUDGE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Oct. 2. A sentence of five years’ hard labour was passed by Mr Justice Herdman to-clay on Turei Browne, aged 44, for incest with two of bis daughters. Counsel said the prisoner was the father of 15 children, ten of whom were alive. He had lived in the backblocks of Coromandel. The offences were committed during the temporary absence of his wife.
The judge said the prisoner nad shown himself an utterly depraved man.
