FOOTBALL COMMITTEE MEETS. (From C'ur Own Correspondent). Tlie financial position of the Manutuhi seven-a.-side football club was reviewed at a meeting of the committee held on Wednesday evening. Mr D. M Jillctt presided over a good attendance. It was reported that the season had resulted in a loss of approximately £5, but the assets had increased by about £3. The club was for the first time unfortunate in the weather on the occasion of the annual tournament arid dance. The resuit had been a big decline in the takings. Owing to the* co-operation of the ladies in providing refreshments with • Mrs C. Barclay as supervisor, and several minor economies, the club could congratulate itself on the small loss shown. Beference was made to the splendid service given by the honorary Bed Cross men on the day of the tournament. In appreciation a small donation was made to the Bed Cross Society. Votes of thanks were accorded Messrs F. Parker and W. Smart for their excellent services as gatekeepers. CRICK FT CL UB FORMED. A public meeting was held on the same evening as the football club meeting to consider the formation of a Manutahi Cricket Club. Mr I). M. Jillett occupied the chair The activities of the team which played matches against neighbouring districts last year were reviewed and the opinion expressed that the time was opportune for a club to be formed. Such
a step would encourage all in the disj trict to take part and would also cnI ble the necessary equipment to be I bought. It was decided Jo form a club and to. canvass the district for members. The subscription was fixed at 2s 6cl The following officers were elected: Club captain, Mr. Cliff Wills; secretary and treasurer. Mr J. H. Couch ; chairman. Mr. T> M. JillettAfter a discussion concerning finance necessary to start the club it was decided to ask the football club to advance up to £5 to enable the equipment to be bought immediately. Five of those present offered to act as guarantors.
