LABOUR DISPUTE SPREADS

NEW SOUTH WALES STRIKE FELLMONGERIES CLOSING DOWN. BAN ON FREE LABOUR, (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) Received 11.15 a.m to-day. SYDNEY, Sept. 30. The fellmongers’ strike was extended when the executive of the Federated Engine Drivers and Firemen’s Association decided to withdraw members employed by five fellmongering firms whose employees are on strike. The object of this decision is to bring the salvage operations at the fellmongering works to an immediate standstill. The strike took a serious turn yesterday when at a meeting of the disputes committee of the Trades and Labour Council it was decided to recommend all unions having members employed in factories at present affected by the strike to cease work. These include electricians, engineers, textile workers, engine drivers, firemen and transport workers. The employers’ representatives have decided to engage, no volunteer labour and will close the works indefinitely.
