ORIGINAL “TRILBY” PASSES
CAREER. OF -MRS. H. B. IRVING. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) LONDON, Sept. 25. The death has occurred of Mrs. H. B. Irving, the original “Trilby.” Mrs Irving will be remembered for the stage creation of Du Maurier’s “Trilby” at the Haymarket in 1895, a year before she married the late Mi Henry Irving, eldest son of Sir Henr\ Irving. She was the daughter of a barrister and followed the stage as a career for 18 years until 1912, when ishe left it. Mrs Irving then devoted herself to infant welfare work, being associated with the National Baby Week Council as secretary and other organisations dealing with mothers and infants.
