'The rougest game of football seen at Auckland for many years was played to-day when -ißichinond Club (Auckland)' beat St. George (Sydney) at League -by 13 points to 8. From the start -the referee penalised the visitors freely for shepherding and obstruction. There were -continual scuffles in which boots and fists -were freely employed. The culminating point was reached when the home team was awarded a p'cnalty try for obstruction. Then followed an affray between the two sets of forwards and some of the backs, fists being used. 'The referee separated the players with great difficulty bur, in spite -of his warning illegal play continued until the end. i , For R.ielmiond, Gutter] cy, Metcait (penalty try) and Abbott scored, Milicich and Satherlcy each kicking, a penalty goal. For St. George, Robinson kicked a penalty goal and Martin scored two tries.
