FIRE-RESISTING COCKPIT j BELGIAN INVENTOR’S CLAIM. REFUGE WHILE PETROL BURNS FLYER NOT EVEN WARMED (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) Received 1.15 p.m. to-day. LONDON, Sept. 26. sTaj or van Rolleghem, a- well-known and highly decorated Belgian aviator, is coming to England to demonstrate a fireproof aeroplane. He states: “I get into a model cookpit, close myself in, light the petrol supply until the boat is 1200 degrees. I can sit in this furnace unroasted for 20 to 30 minutes until the fire is out and when I open the cockpit it will he undamaged. I do not even get warm.” , Experts who have seen successful demonstrations at Brussels believe Major van Rolleghem’s invention may remove the danger of fire in the air.
