Jack Moore, a Taihapo farmer, had a lucky escape at the Cook -Street level crossing when the bumper of his car w r as struck by tne express at mid-day. When he was approaciiing the crossing Mr Moore’s attention was attracted bv a shunting engine in fhe railway yard and he did not see the express coming from the opposite direction. He w T as not injured.
