MEETING OP AS SO Cl AT I OX. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS DEALT WITH. At a general meeting of the Taranaki Hockey Referees’ Association held in Stratford last evening numerous complaints i.n connection with the Tefereeing of certain hockey matches in Taranaki recently were dealt with. There was .an attendance of approximately 20 delegates and Mr C. J. McFadyen (Hawera) occupied the chair. The complaints arose from letters received at a recent association meeting at Hawera from Hawera, and New Plymouth regarding the refereeing of inter-division George and Doughty Cup •matches. At that meeting it was alleged that incorrect time was kept and that a referee criticised in players’ hearing rulings of the other referee. •Some of the complainants and the referee in quesrlon were not present at the Tlawera meeting and last night’s gathering was decided . upon. Hollowing the reading of the New Plymouth letter regarding the Sat.ur-day-Thursday A match at Stratford on August 20 the meeting went into committee for the discussion, the chairman saying the matter was purely a domestic one. Explanations were accepted, the New Plymouth letter was received and no action was taken.

A complaint regarding incorrect time in an inter-club semi-final was discussed and eventually it was decided to take no action. The matter was one for the Taranaki Hockey Association, said Mr 11. C. Johnson.

Mr 11. C. Johnson’s explanation why he had not refereed in the EoversWhangamomona ladies’ semi-final at Stratford on July 22 was taken in committee and accepted with no discussion.

Mr C. Harding’s complaint that only one referee had been appointed for the ladies’ final at Manaia was also discussed. Mr 11. C. Johnson said lie considered one man if reasonably fit could control a ladies’ maten better than two referees. The discussion lapsed.
