DROUGHT IN BRITAIN
WATER PROBLEM SERIOUS ANXIETY IN SMALL TOWNS. FURTHER; DAMAGE BY FIRE. DESTRUCTION OF PLANTATIONS. (British Official Wireless.) Receiving 1.20 p.m. to-day. RUGBY, Sept. 11. The prolonged dr ((light continues and forecasts indicate further fine weather. The water problem is causing some anxiety in small towns and villages in several parts of the country. There were further outbreaks to-day of fires which during the past few days have devastated hundreds of acres of heath and common land, causing heavy damage and big destruction of" plantations, particularly m the South of England. Extra patrols are on continuous duty in the New I 1 orest, where ten fires occurred during the week-end.
