When a fire occurred at midnight on the Marseilles mail ’plane the pilot ordered the wireless operator to jump with a parachute, which he safely accomplished. landing on the banks of the River Lire, despite darkness. The pilot meanwhile mastered the flames and, despite damage to one of the three engines, descended safely at the Lyons aerodrome.
