OPERA HOUSE. “HELL BELOW.” “Hell Below,” Metro-Gold wynMayer’e drama of life in the submarine service, with Robert Montgomery, Walter Huston, Madge Evans, Jimmy Durante, Eugene Pallette and Robert Young in the cast, will bo presented at the Hawera Opera House to-night and at matinee and o% r ening sessions on Monday. The story is a dramatic one, dealing with the conflict between love and duty faced by a young naval lieutenant in action in the Mediterranean. Montgomery is serving under the father of the girl he loves, but whose love _ is forbidden him. How, by disobeying orders, he loses his commission and subsequently redeems himself by a heroic sacrifice, is depicted against a background of naval battles, fights with enemy aircraft and the whole great panorama of war at sea. The amazing and thrilling episodes of “Hell Below” include the escape under water from depth bombs, _ the dramatic moment in the hold of _ a doomed submarine, the baffle with the ’planes, the torpedoing of an enemy destroyer and the final climax in which Montgomery drives his ex-plosive-laden boat into a. fort io blow it up and thus bottle up a harbour protecting tlio enemy fleet. The booking is heavy for this attraction. Seats may bo reserved by ’phone at Miss Bln ke’s.
