FARMERS’ CO=OP. REPORT In its weekly review or the Taranaki stock markets the Farmers 1 Co-opera-tive Society of New Zealand, states that a period of brisk trad.no has ensued. Very mild condit.ons hate been experienced and with the warn, rains that have fallen during the latte, part of the week, a noticeable gro.vtli has resulted. Pastures everywhere ait looking extremely well for the time o, the year, and. with the splend.d condition that most herds are ••urry.ng a most successful start has been made in the new season. Optimist.c reports have been received during the week as to conditions prevailing m both Great Britain and the United States. The feature of the week has been tin. further rise in lamb and mutton on the Home market. Both butter anti cheese prices have remained firm dur ing the week at the advance of the past few weeks. As is usual at this time of the year, dairy cows and heifers- constitute the bulk' of the offering at yard sales, an: keen competition has been evinced at all centres for good cattle close t< profit. Dean: to the slight easing tendency: shown in many parts or the island, local values of all classes of fat sheep have been well maintained. Sales m fat ewes include a line at IBs, with truck lots at 17s to 18s. Sales of prime heavy wethers leave been effected iu 255. ' Hoggets, wnerever quoted or yarded, meet with ready competition at values ranging from 16s to 225, according to condition. With most flocks in the middle, of lambing the demand for ewes has been appeased, those who have not filled their requirements having to wait for quotes of ewes with lambs at foot to come on the market at a later date. The demand for all classes- of hoggets is extremely keen, but quotes are difficult to procure. Sales of wether hoggets are reported up to 14s 6d with ewe hoggets from . •• io 18s 6d. Fat cattle values are on a par with those ruling last week. Sales include n line of heavy P.A. cows at £o os* w.th further truck lots of prime heavy j cows from £5 to £5 os, lighter sorts making from £4 os to £4 15s. A very keen demand exists for all classes of store cattle, out here again, quotes are extremely difficult to procure. Fat and forward P.A. and Hereford cows range in value from £3 os to £3 10s, with in-calf cows front £3 10s to £4 10s according to size and condit.cn. Despite the large entries at yard sales keen business for all classes of heifers has been shown in the paddock. Good two and three year heifers close co profit in good condition, command nt-i tention at from £6 10i to £7. while j sales of numerous lines of backward* two and three year heifers have been effected during the week from £4 10s to £6.

The Hawera sale drew a capacity yarding of dairy cattle, a medium yarding of store and fat cattle and only a few pens of sheep. The dairy sale showed “a distinct easing, and although the bulk of the ya.rd.ng was sold, it took a good heifer to realise more than £5 10s.
