ALLEGED IRAQ MASSACRES
ASSYRIANS PETITION LEAGUE'. GOVERNMENT’S COUNTER CHARGES. (United Press Association —By filfctric Telegraph Copyright.) GENEVA. Aug. 23. Shinum, the leader of the 1 Assyrians, has petitioned the League regarding the recent alleged massacre. This is regarded as urgent and the petition was sent immediately to council members. The Iraq Government simultaneously forwarded a further lengthy communication denying massacres and alleging that Shinum’s rebels mutilated the corpses and killed women and children.
