Commissioner Horner gave a summary of the business transacted at the recent quarterly meeting in Stratford of the South Taranaki Boy Scouts’ Association. He mentioned that invitations were received from various parts of the district for the annual competitions, but the matter of transport and the time involved in travelling presented serious difficulty. The association decided, therefore, that the competitions he held alternately at Haweia and Eltham, tin* two most ’central towns in the province, which involved the minimum of transport and the maximum of time available to complete the various events. Messrs Strange and Ira J. Bridger (Mayor of Eltham) were authorised by the association to confer as to the arrangements neces-. sary for the competitions, which take place this year on the first Saturday in 'November. The commissioner reported further that the ajMiual camp this year will be held in summer and not in winter, and that possibly tlie West Coast jamboree will be held in conjunction with the camp.
