OPINIONS OF COMMISSION. CRASH DUE TO FATIGUE. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) LONDON, Aug. 17. A Kovno message .states tljat in connection with the allegations concerning the plane Lithuanic-a a Government commission has decided that the crash of Darius and Girenas after their Atlantic crossing was due to fatigue and had weather. The Government prohibited a newspaper from publishing rumours that Nazis were responsible for the deaths.
A cable from Paris'on July 26 stated that the Strasbourg newspaper “Dernieres Nouvelles” said that it was widely reported that the ’plane Lithuanica, in which the two Lithuanians were flying from New York to Kovno. was mistaken for a. police' plane and shot down by German frontier guards, who were reputedly ordered to fire on any unknown plane crossing the Polislj frontier. (Thie newspaper added that German anti-aircraft defenses on the Polish frontier were equipped with a cha : n of concrete machine-gun emplacements.
